Charts from internal references of external data

Q:
Charts from internal references of external data
I can access and process the external data from another worksheet just fine (I'm grabbing data from one excel spreadsheet to plot on another), but I need to process this data before plotting (I need to normalize the data to the max value in that column and the number of rows in each column increments with each measurement taken -- this is the save file from a Labview VI).

When I plot the data points directly from the external location, the graphs appear normal, but if I plot them from an internal reference (internal meaning from within the same workbook as the chart), then all the data points are zero and I get an error message saying that Excel can only plot 32,000 (I think that was the number, I'm writing this from home and it's a problem from work) data points when there are only 10-15 data points in the referenced cells The cells referenced in the chart show the proper values.

I'm kind of stumped here. I've done an extensive and unsuccessful web search for solutions, but perhaps I'm missing the proper key word for my search.

Basically, can someone tell me or point me to the right reference or key word that will let me make a (scatter) chart which references internal cells that contain external cell references?

Thank you in advance.
