    You should be able to do this, But only believe what your new service provider tells you. They are the ones that make the final decision.

    I should have added that This is for your landline. Correct? And you will stay in the same Area Code? The question to as the new service provide is "Can I port my old number?"

    It is best to ask to the service provider who provided the telephone no/modem etc, from which u may do Internet surfing/ skype (assuming) on ur Mac. As a general, yes it is possible, but that totally depends on ur service provider.
