Microsoft Excel spreadsheet
I created a file using qry400, to hold the position of a field I used spaces '    ', now when I try to download to an Excel spreadsheet the info in that field comes out looking like HEX instead of what is in the field. Is there anyway to correct this? *** note - I must fix the file, I can not recreate.

Apparently you've created the file with a character field and somehow, you haven't told us how, you are putting data into it that is from non-numeric field? Am I anywhere near correct?  .. so how are you getting data into this file?

I would first suspect that CCSID 65535 was used. By definition, that means that the data is transferred in binary, i.e., there is no EBCDIC to ASCII conversion. Change the definition to a valid text CCSID or change your connections to force CCSID 65535 conversion. (Changing the connection will mean that CCSID 65535 will be converted even for data that shouldn't be converted, but that's uncommon.)Tom

Hi hydr1,While downloading/exporting the file to excel; go to the "Properties", click on it & select/check "Convert CCSID 65535" & download it.That's it.Now your data should be as it is in the file. Let me know.-thanksSvanky
