Answer Wiki:
Prometric.com is a good site for finding and signing up for training and tests. With reference to IT certification registration and delivery, there exist two chief providers: * Pearson Virtual University Enterprises (VUE): http://pearsonvue.com * Thomson Prometric: http://www.prometric.com By "provider" I mean that you can register to take your IT certification exam by either calling or visiting the VUE or Prometric Web site. Testing centers are affiliated with either VUE, Prometric, or both. For instance, the training center at which I teach is both a VUE and a Prometric exam provider. Does it make a difference which exam registrar you choose? Well, yes and no. A rising number of "strategic partnerships" have cropped up in the past year or so that affect certain IT certification candidates: * Cisco uses Pearson VUE exclusively * Microsoft uses Prometric exclusively * Oracle uses Prometric exclusively * Apple uses Prometric exclusively Consequently, you need to keep this fact in mind if you plan on certifying on Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle, and/or Apple technologies. Be certain to read the "How to register" pages for the certification vendors with which you are interested.

Just to clarify: I’m not promoting the site listed above; I just wanted to give an example. Sorry for any confusion!

I think most people just read or hear about something and go there directly. I could see some good cross-promotion and linking for something like this at the ITKE site though. ;-)

I normally use the vendor sites to find out the details for Cetrifications. I prefer the vendor prepared study guides as they meets the objectives of the certification exams. Some third party study materials are good but we need read the reviews before opting them.
