How do I start a career in network security? What certifications do I need in this career? I am currently studying for a CCNA R&S certification; after this what's the next step?

In my opinion, after completing your CCNA, join somewhere as a network administrator. Have some experience there and then go for CCSP.

You are going to complete CCNA router & switch certification. For security related, you can go for CCNA Security/Ethical Hacking course. Also you can ask your institution for more knowledge of certifications.

You need to work on yourself more than you do on your job. It sounds like you're taking some good first steps. Focus on your technical education (certifications, degrees, etc.) but also work to become better at:
    • writing
    • presenting
    • sales
    • decision-making

All of these will make you better at what you do in security. Skills in these areas are very rare among out colleagues in IT and security. If you focus here as much as anywhere else, you'll stand out in a positive way and be able to write your own ticket in this field.

Here's a piece I wrote recently that might help:

And more resources I've written in the past:

    Best of luck!
