 cell entry that changes
I am a new user to Excel so this is probably a common problem with an easy answer, but I can't figure it out. When I enter a number (200)in an individual cell and then click on another cell....the number changes (to 220)in the cell I just completed. I try to format the individual "changing" cell (from 220 back to the 200)but as soon as I leave that cell, it changes back to that 220 number. How do I enter 200 in a cell and keep it as a 200 number. Thanks.

Answer Wiki:
I would try erasing all formatting of the cell in question. Also, click the cell and check the formula bar. Is there anything that appears other that "200" if so, there is your solution. What version of Excel are you using? Hope this helps! -Schmidtw

Does this happen in every cell ?
Is there a pattern of the values to which the cell changes after leaving it ? (for example, what happens if you enter 300,400 or 500)

Yes, I also think this is a formatting issue.
Best option may be to clear all cells. Highlight all cells; right click; select clear content.
Then try to enter the data again.
Good luck.

Thank you for the answers to my question……I certainly learned more about formatting. Yesterday, I finally was able to keep the correct number in the cell when I custom formatted the cell. Thanks everyone! Problem solved!
