I am trying to make some backup DVD's and i have opened my burner, added all the files to the DVD and i have clicked burn. There is a confirmation box that pops up and the burn button is disabled, telling me that the drive was reserved by another application.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Your last session of burining DVD was not completed properly and would have been interrupted/stopped in between. Try two things:
1. Delete/remove all stuff that you placed to be burned in DVD. This will show no stuff pending for ‘burn’. Then copy back the stuff to DVD area and burn it.
2. If point no. 1 does not work, then replace the existing blank DVD with a new DVD, do step 1 again and then burn. It should work.

The interesting thing about it is that this was the first project I was burning with the particular DVD. I hadn't been burning anything prior to this. I just opened the application, selected the media, and clicked burn and that's what it said. Regardless, I will try your method.

I am thinking, should I will run CHKDSK. This may or may not solve any weird issues going on. Then I might consider UBCD4. Does UBCD4 support burning files? Since the system is at a point where I am considering it compromised, I may just re-image anyway.

You could also try a different burner like Infrarecorder found here at PortableApps.
