The easiest for someone else, may not be the easiest for you.

There are some very good self-study books, again there are many, and you need to find the one that works for you. Have a good look through them in a larger book store, and choose the one that you find easiest to read (font and layout varies, and some will suit you, some will not).

You can go to a certified Cisco Training Centre, but this can easily be the most expensive. But you will get top quality training and reference material.

There are some correspondance courses. The main trouble with these is that the quality varies too much, and you don't know until it is too late if it is a bad one.

I think the easiest way, if you want formal training, is to use the Cisco Academy programme. It is not the cheapest, but you do get very good learning material, and a tutor to answer any questions, or to provide additional help when you need it. There is also a simulator software package to practise configuration, and to see how packet sniffers work. There should be an academy near you (http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/netacad/) In the UK you can do this through the Open University (http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?C01T216) which I think is also open to students outside the UK (the OU exam may not be, but you don't need this to pass the Cisco CCNA, just use the course to study with, and go to a testing centre for the Cisco exam).

I hope that helps a bit ? Try a book first, and see if you like the subject. Then look at additional training if you think this will be of benefit.

Good Luck :-)

Head down, nose the grind, don’t check emails or take phone calls until you’re done. OK, maybe that’s a bit much but it does depend on your level of experience, how you learn, and so on. Hands on in a class may be best…or studying books and online may work. It’s different for everyone and ultimately your call.
