Hi, I have one situation that for me is complicated. I run CAT6 UTP network cable. When I connect each end of the cable to a Fluke DSP-4000 & DTX-1800 Network Analyzer, it tells me that Return Loss failed (RL and RL @ Remote). I check details on the analyzer it says that pair 3,6 failed 4,5 failed and the others passed. All the cables are inside of metal gutter. I have 2 questions:

  1. What kind of problem can give Return Loss failed (RL and RL @ Remote)?
  2. I just want to be sure that this network will work in 1000 MB.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Emiljo,

This question was already answered: Return Loss error on Fluke

Even so, you might be willing to read this document from Microtest. This doc. among others, helped me and my team some years ago (97/98) to start certifying our first structured cabling installations.
