Career change to Quality

Software Quality, CSQA, Certified Software Quality Analyst, Certifications, IT careers

I am involved with the software industry -as software engineer for almost 3.5 years.I was involved with initially with software development and later on moved to the position of a Module Lead. Now I would like to shift from my arena -development to some other core area of sotware enggineering like Software Quality management.

As software developers, we were also involved with some very generic quality aspects ,but all those got restricted to some set of documents.I would like to take up any certification course in quality like CSQA or someting similar.

My concern is from where I'll get the required information ,starting with the basic fundamental aspects of software quality?Email ids of quality veterans are also welcomed.

Thanks in Advance

Why you want to switch over to Quality from Development especially when you are at module lead level and have good bright career in development. Quality and Development - Both are entirely different areas. It is well proven that a good developer need not necessarily be a good tester. The basic requirements and skill sets in both areas are too different. I can understand that you have some exposure to testing during your development but that does not prove your candidature for the same. Moreover if you are well set in development, then just because quality is an upcoming area, you should not think of switching over. If you switch over, in quality you will be starting from scratch and you will be losing your 3-5 years of development exposure. Clarity of skill set requirement is very important before you take your next step you should also analyze yourself in respect to those skills required in a tester that where you stand. Although as of now in software quality you can become successful even without going for any of these courses like CSQA, STQB, ISEB or CSQP etc.
