 Career advise..
Hi, I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Management Information systems and i am very new to the IT field( no work experience) besides i did my bachelors in Electrical engineering.:( However after doing some courses like datamining, SAS, I have decided to pursue my career in the BI domain. I have some background in databases and JAVA though i am not interested in JAVA programming at all. Currently I am doing an internship with a company which is doing a SAP BW implementation;however I have not been able to use the system as yet, I have gained a strong knowledge in concepts related to SAP BW which has infact augmented my interest in this field. On reading your columns, I do know that getting into SAP BW is tough for those without any experience even if certified. So how should i prepare and what advise would you give a student inorder to market his/her skills to enter this field? Thanks a lot. Vinayak

Answer Wiki:
Electrical engineering and then Degree in MIS is a good combination. Usually people with engineering background turn out to carry good logical brain and hence become good developers and analysts. The exposure you are getting on SAP BW is quite good. Are you planning to go into technical or functional is very important at this time. Because accordingly you will have to prepare yourself. All eperienced people started their journey with zero experience, so don’t worry about that. Your enthusiasm, zeal and efforts will definitely pay once you are clear about functional or technical. For functional your this exposure and if you are able to pursue the same organization for a year or more for the same, will become a good asset for you. You should undergo formal training in SAP Business Warehouse if you have decided to move on this product line.
