Network connectivity, DHCP, Ping

I have a notebook that is using network resources and a IP address from our DHCP server. But I am unable to ping this notebook, no XP firewall or McAfee firewall.

First thing to help out any more we would need to know the ip/sub/gway of the laptop and the ip/sub/gway of the machine you are pinging from. are you pinging the address or hostname?

Why did you mention mcaffe specifically, Is that your companies standard software?
unless the pc's have been given a hooky address from the dhcp server or cannot connect to the dhcp server (where upon one your ip's will be something like 169.254.x.x) then there shouldnt be too much of a problem.

can you give us the results of an ipconfig /all on both machines?
