Can’t create ODBC connection to sql 2005 instance
I have a server 2003 two node cluster with SQL 2005 installed. The orginal instance is working fine and there is no connection problem. I have created a second instance and can connect with the SQL Management Studio. When i try to create a ODBC connection from my client os both XP and VISTA both fail saying sql server error: 14. I am guessing there is a permission problem but I can't figure out where to start.

I am giving a update. I got the xp box to connect finally. It was a permission problem that was corrected when i used the vista provisioning tool but it still did not correct my vista box. The vista box will connect by named pipes but not with tcp/ip. The xp box will connect either way. What is something to look at?

Check that the SQL Browser is working and that the Vista firewall is setup to allow communication to the SQL Cluster. It will need access to communicate to all IPs on the cluster.
