Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

FTP’ing from 400 to PC would require an ftp server to be running on your PC. Is that the case?

Hi Why do you want to FTP from your AS/400 to your PC? The FTP process is client/server, which means that you have to have an FTP server running on the machine you are FTP'ing in to. The FTP server is supplied as standard on the AS/400, but not (to my knowledge) on Windows XP and you would need to install a third party piece of software such as Serv-U. As you can FTP from the PC to the AS/400 you can transfer files and objects to and from the AS/400 using the PUT and GET commands. If you want to initiate the FTP process from the AS/400 as part of an automated job then you could investigate the use of the STRPCO and STRPCCMD commands which enable you to run commands on your PC. Run Google searches on either command for numerous examples. All the best Jonathan

If you don't have a FTP server on your PC you won't be able to do it. But there is many other alternatives to transfer data to your PC, On the ISeries, you can use some of the command CPYTO* to copy data to an IFS directory or a PC document or folder, etc... and then you can map a drive from your pc to this location. You can also use the data transfer option available with Client Access to upload into an EXcel spreadsheet. Hope that will help.
