How difficult is it to configure Linux to turn an old PC into a server for use as a firewall? Can anyone help me find more information? Thanks in advance.
Why not keep it as simple as possibe. All you need is an old pc and this, http://www.zelow.no/floppyfw/index.html
Keep digging there is a lot of information on just what you want to do.

Just type in “floppyfw” witout the quotes into the address bar or a google search and you will find many links. Forget the server concept. I believe this approch to be the simplest for non linux guru’s.

We use Linux on PC for our firewall… a great economically and safe firewall. We use Sentry software.
