Q:
Can you share with us what is consider best practices for PST files location
Most users are placing their PST files on a shared drive because it gets backup by TSM; however, we recently had a disk corruption and during the problem determination someone mentioned that Microsoft does not recommend to place PST files on file-servers. Can you share with us what is consider best practices for PST files location

I would never move the PST files from their default location with a users profile. There are too many things that will break.

If you are concerned with backing up the PST so the end use does not loose his email, then you need a worable solution. There are many different ways you can accomplish this, depending on how profecient you are with scripting and networking. You could do it the easy way and make the end user save a copy of his own PST to a common folder on your server which gets backed up to tape/HDD by using Microsoft's Outlook 2007/2003/2002 Add-in: Personal Folders Backup found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8B081F3A-B7D0-4B16-B8AF-5A6322F4FD01&displaylang=en
You can also look at Dan Holme's Windows Administration Resource Kit Productivity Solutions for IT Professionals - especially chapter 3 which is covers Managing User Data and Settings for situations like yours.

Best of luck

Our chosen solution is PSTStation Corporate. As you have already found out, using PST files is not supported across the network. This is due to the file read/write process and how it works differently on the local drive versus a network drive. See my blog entry about the scope of our Exchange 2007 implementation.
