Can you perform a brick backup on Exchange 2007 using 2003 Server
We are in the process of setting up Exchange 2007. The CA BAB11.5 backup software we have does not have the capability to perform brick level backups on Exchange 2007. Is there any capability in 2003 Server to backup Exchange 2007 at the brick level or at alll?

Answer Wiki:
Assuming you mean Windows Server 2003's built-in NTBackup utility. NTBackup doesn't do brick level (that is, individual mailboxes) backup. Brick level backups use MAPI to connect to the Exchange Store, are terribly inefficient and less than fashionable. Exchange Server 2007 has better functionality, including Recovery Storage Groups for disaster recovery scenarios. Many third-party Exchange backup utilities can recover individual mailboxes from a Store backup.
