Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

The simplist way I have found to trouble shoot the SNDDST command is by manually sending an email from a telnet screen. The responses from the email server will tell you if you are reaching the server and if the server likes your commands. This way, you can learn if the server doesn’t like the source email, the target email, or if you are actually reaching the mail server at all.

>>>> command to type on the command line

From a commad line telnet to the email server on port 25.

SMTP via TELNET:
TELNET RMTSYS(mailserver.company.com) PORT(25)

>>>> helo

<<<220 fsi.mail.company.or.us Groupwise Internat Agent 7.01

>>>> helo

<<<<500 syntax error

>>>> helo

<<<<250 fsi.mail.company.or.us Ok

>>>>Mail from:valid.source.email.address@mycompany.com

<<<<250 OK

>>>>Rcpt to:valid.target.email.address@messaging.sprintpcs.com

<<<<205 OK

>>>> data

<354 Enter mail, end with “.” On a line by itself

>>>>Type the rest of your email here.

>>>>Last line is a period all by itself to end the transmission.

>>>>.
<<<<250 Ok

It's done the same way e-mail is sent to any external address. But you might need to clarify. Do you want to send to a gmail (or yahoo or whatever) address? Or do you want to send through gmail (i.e., use gmail as a server for your AS/400 e-mail)? Tom

Combination of server configuration and use of CL Commands. Check out this IBM Software Knowledge Base on AS/400 Mail; http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/was4?OpenView&view=was4 Hope this helps, Bill Poulin

When i am trying to send email via SNDDST... SNDDST doesn't send "email" if you mean SMTP; SNDDST sends "distributions". Distributions must then be routed to the SMTP server for them to be converted into e-mails. Not only must the SMTP server be configured properly and started, but the distribution routing must also be configured properly and started. After all of the parts are in place, then SNDDST begins to result in e-mails. Tom

Hi, it is not simple to configure distribution (DST) on Iseries. it looks for through google: Activate SMTP service on the iSeries system to send and-mails. You can find a good explanation. Nuccio
