Can we migrate already encrypted data from SQL Server 2000 to MS SQL Server 2008
I have encrypted data in MS SQL Server 2000. I want to migrate in MS SQL Server 2008. I have migrated successfully through the attach/dettach process but when I am trying to decrypt the data. is it giving different result or value. is the right process to migrate the encrypted data? Please suggest me ASAP. Thanks & Regards, Amit Khare

Answer Wiki:
You will probably want to migrate the process that was used on the SQL 2000 server to encrypt and decrypt the data as well until you can get the navive SQL 2008 encryption/decryption working correctly. You may need to decrypt your data and reencrypt your data if the SQL 2008 native encryption doesn't support the same encryption that you used on the SQL 2000 server. Can you provide more information about the methods used to encrypt the data?
