Can users logon using the ADCS in Windows Server 2003?
I have a Windows 2003 domain controller and two additional domain controllers which are running Windows Server 2003. My question is, if the DC is down will the client be able to logon to the network using the ADCS? If so, what will be the impact, as the domain controller is only holding the PDC emulator role?

Answer Wiki:
The issue would be with downlevel clients that would be looking for the PDC emulator. Newer clients, 2000 and up should be okay if other DC's are reachable.

The user will need to contact a global catalog to log on. Are all the DC in one site? If not, then place a GC in each site. If all are in one site, then make another GC in that site.
Ask more questions if you need.

best of luck
