Suddenly I have REFOG keylogger on my laptop. My boyfriend insists that it was accidentally downloaded in a game file. What I want to know is if this is even possible, or must it be intentionally installed?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

yes, it’s intentionally installed when you downloaded the game it is embedded with the software especially when you installed the downloaded game from not trusted website, general rule of the thumb is always scan the file for any malicious objects (referring to viruses/malware/keylogger and etc) that you’ve downloaded before running the setup or if its not coming from a trusted website then chances are something fishy with it, never compromise your data integrity and security..since your dealing with keylogger i suggest that you need to remove it from your system and change all you passwords anfd your information (sensitive data) are already compromise. heres a link to remove the kelogger from your system http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2009/09/08/how-to-uninstall-refog-keylogger-without-knowing-master-password/

i hope i was able to answer your question
