When a company such as Yahoo purchases a social media site like Tumbler, it’s not unusual to see users flee in droves
. A similar thing happened when Rupert Murdoch purchased MySpace. Users of social media sites don’t like when an outside entity purchases their sites with an eye towards “monetization”. Understanding that there must be profit, how can purchasing companies expand into these arenas without losing the very people who created the value of the site they purchased?
