Can instant messages be intercepted on corporate networks?

Instant Messaging, AIM

Can instant messages be intercepted on corporate networks? Basically, do programs exist that network folks can use to intercept instant messages while logged on to a corporate network? Is Big Brother watching?

Thanks.

Yes. I don't use any specifically made for the purpose, but I've seen a lot of IM/Chat stuff go by just using my Ethereal sniffer.

If you Google "IM Sniffer", you'll get a LOT of matches.
