Can I use SAS HD in this server?
Hello, I'm thinking about to buy two barebones servers but I don't know a lot about hardware. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101319 Can I use four SAS HD's? I need just to buy the HD's and put on the server or do I need to buy a SAS card first? Because I saw the description here: http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/system/1U/1022/AS-1022G-URF.cfm and look the note. "SAS Add-on card is optional" Thank you!

Are you asking about SAS business analytics software? Or about SAS (serial attached SCSI) cards? Are you doing this as a hobby? — Tom

Never mind… I got sidetracked on “SAS” and ignored “HD”. You’ll need a SAS card. — Tom

Second Link look to be able to hold the drives. If the Addon is required then it would need to be purchased. Best bet would be to ring one of the Business Partners that would supply it. Hot-swap

Yes, there’s the SAS backplane. Looks like they should both work for only four drives. — Tom
