		<description><![CDATA[It doesn&#039;t matter what OS is being upgraded. If you have files you want to keep, you should &lt;b&gt;always do backups&lt;/b&gt; before upgrading.

Unless, of course, Microsoft (or other vendor) developed the upgrade on your hardware using your BIOS and your adapter cards and your drivers and your file systems and everything else that makes your system different from every other system in the world.

The variations are uncountable. Anticipating all potential issues is impossible.

You must be responsible for protecting what is important to you. If it&#039;s not important enough to back up, then don&#039;t be concerned about losing it.
