You may get luck and find company that will hire you. Your age may be a factor though. The thing is your asking staring salary may be higher than that of a student just out of college in their 20’s or 30’s.  The other is they may be looking at a long term investment. You are much closer to the retirement age. A company may not want to have to look for another hire is a few short years. Your best bet may be getting a position as a consultant.  At my last job we had a consultant that worked for us for over 10 years, (he actual got a 10 year pin from the company).
If this is what you want to do, go for it… I made a career change in the IT world from one language and platform to another around the age of 50 as well.. No regrets..

What's suitable is whatever you want to make happen. I'm biased towards the field of information security. There so much going on in this space that the opportunities are endless. More insight into IT and security careers here:

The languages you known, they are all based on coding related. And now you are teaching students on this languages (guess). Are you working in the same field from beginning of your career or you did some type of job like in a company that you did not reveal. See, whatever it is, at this age, writing code is somehow not so easy for you for a software development company. There are differences to work under a company and an institution. What job you are doing now, hope this is structured means, there are some steps to teach the students, and year after year you just follow this guidance. But in industry/company there are various types of development procedures and may be you will not feel comfortable for this situations. However, you if you are interested, you can try for system admin related jobs, specially security which is on demand nowadays very much.
