Hello TeachMeIT,
Sorry but MSE are designed to <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/">*Home/Small Business Users*.</a>
If you need/have more that that you might need <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/forefront/en/us/default.aspx">Forefront</a>.
That said deployement capabilities for MSE are not a must and you might have to get some third party administrative templates to get around the non MSI deployement limitation.
Even so, updates for MSE are available through WSUS.

Agree with Saturno for first part. Microsoft has lately extended free download of MSE to small businesses with up to 10 PCs. Though there r several free-for-life anti-virus programs available in the market, like Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, Malwarebytes, Panda Cloud and so on, people have a belief that paid solutions are more effective. No anti-virus provides an entire safe guard ! So, how u keep safe ur system, that totally depends on ur proper strategy.
