I'm thinking of running several CPU-intensive computations in the cloud. The only real requirement I need is that it needs to be able to run .NET applications with enough security permissions for a reflection-based IoC container. Has anyone used .NET applications in the cloud? Particularly Azure, EC2, etc.? Thanks for all the help.

Yes, it is possible to deploy your .NET applications to the cloud. To do this, start by renting a VM (virtual machine) with Windows Server that is already installed and configured to support .NET. You’ll need to be able to deploy, configure and maintain the application yourself. The easiest way to do so is to keep Windows loaded and up to date on your VM. Two web services to deploy your .NET applications to the cloud for yourself or other users include Azure and AppHarbor. Be sure to evaluate the costs before selecting a cloud service. Consider whether your app will produce dynamic content, the number of users you expect to have, the size of the app and how often you will need to edit.
