Can I backup my PC files with Windows ME?

To my Desktop PC running Windows ME with latest updates online, I have attached a Seagate USB2.0 500GB FreeAgent external hard drive (directly and via a 4-port hub). The drive letter is configured and the Seagate drive recognized by Windows Explorer, but the disk itself is not accessed. It works fine on an XP laptop but I need to backup my PC files. Is there a way to do this under ME?

this is odd because this looks like a duplicate of the same question that was answered a few days ago. from what the last one said a user answered that you might be able to format it FAT32 and be able to use it. I looked up the Seagate FreeAgent 500GB drives. On Seagate’s website it specifically states that it only supports Windows Vista, XP Home or Professional Edition, or Windows 2000 and some MAC OS’s. It does not say that it works with ME.
