 Can I add a local SQL 2005 instance to a clustered node
SQL 2005 Database, SQL Server, SQL Server Clustered Index
I have a 2 nodes (Active/Active) SQL 2005 Standard cluster. Since SQL STD only support two clustered instances, can I add a local instance to each node? I don't need this local instance to fail over. Is it possible to have the two clustered instances an two local instance one on each node?

Yes you can install a SQL Instance on one of the nodes without setting it up for fail over. You have to set it up on either local storage, or on its own SAN storage so that the storage doesn't fail over. The instance name will need to be unique from the clustered instances.

How can I install it. When I run setup it detect that SQL is clustered and that I already have 2 instances of SQL on the cluster and since SQL 2005 STD only support two instances the installation can’t continue.

This is the first I’ve ever heard of that limitation. I’m checking with some people to see if they’ve seen that before. There’s nothing about that in the feature list.
