Can data be restored from BRMS whose expire date has passed.

Can data be restored from a media whose expiry date has passed though it has not been initialized or formatted. Data was stored using BRMS.

Software/Hardware used:
BRMS, i 570, V5R4M0

Hi,

The expiry date property in this case is just a flag that indicates to the backup software if the data can be overwriten or not.
So if it was not already overwriten, it is possible to restore from that media.

    As Luis has already stated the information is still on the tape but you may need to list the tape if you intend restoring explicit data. I'd recommend running BRMS maintenance with the "remove media information" option (RMVMEDI) set to that *REUSE and not *EXP to overcome this issue in the future.

    The option for RMVMEDI(*REUSE) can be found on the STRMNTBRM command. Check how your BRMS maintenance procedure is run and change the parameter.

    Hi, If the media was not overridden, as an alternative, you could restore the information thru native commands.
