 Can a remote access install LoJack to recover a stolen laptop?
My laptop got stolen yesterday. It has Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Can a remote access find or install LoJack on it?

I dont think the thief would be keeping it turned on over the internet or with a dialup.

If you can connect to it, you then know the IP address it has. This can be traced, so contact the Police and have them pay the thief a visit. But as you will not know the IP address, then contact your insurance people instead !

It’s not clear what you mean by “a remote access” but, sure, if you can connect into the system remotely then you can do just about anything (including deleting data you don’t want anyone to recover). This is why I like backups and encrypted drives. When a laptop is lost or stolen you have a copy of the data, you know someone isn’t going to get access to your original data, you write off the physical loss, buy a new laptop and be done with it.
