Call a webservice from stored procedure

Looking for a suggestion. I have web service that sends order data to an iSeries to be processed. The order may or may not be created based on the data validation on the I-Series side. If it is successful the order gets created. My problem is trying to add additional data (order notes) on a successful order placement. A suggestion was made to me to do this through an Agent Job calling a stored procedure. I can't do that because I can only do SELECT statements on the iSeries via a linked server in the stored procedure. I can add the data via a web method in the web service. What would be a good way of running a procedure every 5 minutes and processing all the successful orders and adding the order notes to the DB2 database on the iSeries? I've read post on Service Broker, CLR and other and one post will argue against the other on the correct way. So I come to the experts for a few suggestions. Thanks
