 Cable for DTE/DTE
Hello, I need a cable for two DTE, one is RJ45 and other DB9. The cable should be RJ45M to DB9F and Nullmodem rule. How can I get this cable? Can I make it? Can I use CISCO 72-3383-01 CONSOLE CABLE RJ45 - DB9 for this matter? Regards, Hamid,

Answer Wiki:
As i believe from your query, DTE cable is different, & RJ 45 and DB9 is different. Please understand difference between them : 1. DTE cable is use to connect a ISP modem, which is one side DTE port and other side is DCE port. DTE would be at customer end and DCE would be at premises end. V.35 also use for ISP modem. 2. RJ 45 & DB9 is single cable. Both are edge of the single cable. It is also called console cable. RJ 45 would be always Male and DB9 would be always Female which is connect between router console port to PC serial port. So please don't get confuse. Feel free to ask any further query through this media other wise you can drop me a email on my personal mail ID : bhupendra_singh007@yahoo.co.in Thanks & Regards, Bhupendra Singh

If you want to build the cable yourself try this guide:

As for the number that you have, it is the same cable number that I have so it should be ok.

Good luck
