I need some help in regards "Connection between two hubs, 3com OfficeConnect 3C16792 and a Wireless Linksys WRT54G". In our existing office block on the bottom floor we use the 3com officeconnect for all our network connections. We bought the top floor of the building also out and all the managers moved to this floor. First problem is i can't run network cables through a concrete slab to the top floor and there a lot of cables that needs to go up.
Secondly I have a Linksys wireless 4 port router at home that i would like to use instead of the cables going upstairs. All the pc upstairs have wireless adapters and i'm sure i can get the upstairs network running on the Linksys router. But the main problem is to get the top & bottom floors connected with each other. What can i do? I'm not sure if i can just replace the 3com hub with the linksys router!
Can somebody help me on this matter?
Willie

These are all good suggestions. You should also consider the nature of the environment. This will dictate the placement and type of wiring that is appropriate such as elevated raceways or choosing fiber optic cable over copper.
On the second question. If you already have cables running upstairs why not plug in the router and configure? If the signal strength is poor when its downstairs use one of the cables to use it upstairs’
