Hello Vinit,
Yes, management skills are definitely a must for BPM career without which you can not travel on this road. If not all, the main skills you require shall be:

    Openness
    Inquisitive
Vertical and Horizontal Knowledge of business
Best Practices being adopted around the globe
    User Interaction
    Key user identification
    Management Meetings
    Communication
    Solution Oriented
Exposure of different cultures (for offshore projects)
Adaptability (of different cultures/ work environment)

Case Studies can be discussed off hand as and when required as it will require some time to recollect/ gather information. Above all is as per my own experience.

The skills mentioned by Jaideepkhandu are the same skills required of a Business Analyst, as defined in the IIBA Business Analysis Body Of Knowledge.
The ability to make rapid changes in business processes requires a disciplined approach to defining business process architectures. An agile application development infrastructure is also needed to enable reconfiguring application functionality when needed by business challenges. A Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is often mentioned as a required infrastructure for this agile reconfiguration process.

Vinit,

New to this site and I recognize this posting is years behind, but I wanted to add to what Jaideep is saying and ad that an understanding of managment is very important. Having worked on remote projects with teams from Malaysia, Russia, India, the Phillipines and the United States I have noticed that many international projects run aground because there is not a common understanding of the managment process.

In the 60′s Douglas McGreggor wrote a thesis on human motivation for managers. This was called theory X and theory Y. There is a huge difference in the way the two theories operate. I’ve found that most Americans are used to working in a theory Y environment and most other international teams focus on theory X. (You can look up the details of the difference on the web.

Without an understanding of these two theories I think it it would be impossible to be successful as a business process manager. Particularly if you were working on an international team.
