Our building environmental control PC needs to be accessed via internet IP from outside vendors.We have a secure network (VPN) how can we give them access around our VPN and still maintain 100% secure from that connection.

This is a very challenging situation. If the supplier has remote access to the computer, then they are a peer on your network and can do almost anything on the network. The best option is to place the computer into a DMZ and grant access only to specific applications and services on that computer. Don’t let the outside supplier come deep into the network unless you can track their activities or you have some type of legal agreement to enforce compliance with your organization’s security policies and practices.

    I agree - this is tricky given what can happen if they get sloppy on their end. Your network is theirs. A solution such as GotoMyPC may work as well as long as you have that workstation really locked down and configured so it cannot access much on the network. Otherwise, port forwarding (for Windows Remote Desktop, etc.) on the firewall from their IP to this workstation is how it could be done. Just proceed with caution.
