Hi everyone, I'm still use Windows XP all of the time and have installed it on so many machines. I just got a new laptop and when I went to install it, I'm getting the blue screen of death. It says the BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Can anyone help?

As you mentioned new laptop, sometimes the latest hardware do not support old OS as for compatibility issue. It is better to check their manual, and see what OS they recommended. As you tried for XP, might be that, XP is not capable to handle all the hardware that is attached with the laptop. Here model/make is necessary.

If your new computer is a 64-bit system I do not think you can run Win XP on it.

Windows XP 64 bit version is available. The SP2 for 64 bit version is here, https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=18242

But if your laptop is not able to handle new hardware/ has software drivers issue, then you can try for upper version of Windows. Or check the CD/DVD also.

If this is a new laptop and you are looking to put Win XP on it, what was on it when you purchased it?
