 Browsers & Mac Security
Hey guys, I was curious, not because I am unhappy with Safari or anything, but I was wondering about your opinions on different browsers, and how they affect the security of your computer. I wanted to change my gmail so that I can use it offline as well, but it says that Safari is not a supported browser. I know that Macs rarely get viruses, and I was just wondering if changing my browser would affect that in any way? Or do I need to stick with only Apple products for the security. I would like to reference this question more towards google chrome, but if anyone would like to comment on any other browsers that would be great as well. I would greatly appreciate any help with this. Thanks!!!

Answer Wiki:
I tend to use Firefox and now Chrome. Once in awhile I may use Opera. No security issues with any of my browsers even Safari or Camino.

Apple has integrated gmail support, right into its free Mail Application ( mail.app, and works great for offline viewing). Opensource / free Thunderbird is another solution, as well as Mozillas latest SeaMonkey Browser/Mail app. Many solutions, and they are FREE.

As far as security, when you are ONLINE … I highly recommend creating a user account, with-OUT admin capabilities, and use this account for all your Web browsing, and a shared folder to hand safe donwloads to your admin accounts.

I hope this is helpful.
