Broken Exchange server

Newly installed Exchange server 2003 was broken (virus) with no backups of databases and transaction logs. After reformatting the system and reinstalling Exchange 2003 with /DisasterRecovery, System Manager is not available. How do I correct this? Mailboxes do not have to be maintained and retored. Thanks folks!

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

A question from me first. Have you tried installing the Exchange tools on your desktop? Plus query DNS for MX records “nslookup ls -t MX” Does your server show up?

Make sure that you re-apply all OS service packs, hotfixes and patches the were applied prior to the crash. Since you reformatted and installed from scratch, the new server has a new SID and there is most likely stale and conflicting information in AD that must be removed for the original Exchange server using NTDS Util.
