Broadband in two houses
Broadband, BT Broadband, Tiscali Broadband, Broadband cost analysis
Next month I shall be starting an internet consultancy for which I must have 100% reliable broadband.

I shall be running the consultancy from two different houses. In the first, there is a BT line and Tiscali broadband which has been established for three years. In the second TalkTalk Talk have had the line since last November. On this I get free evening and weekend calls and international calls. I have three computers - I have bought the third as a laptop back-up in case of breakdown and intend to transport it between the two houses.

I have just bought Orange Mobile which I was hoping to use between the two houses. However, it works consistently only in the first house.

My question is: where should I go from here that will assure me of the following at the lowest possible cost?

1. Anytime talk, free international calls and broadband in house 1 with second computer back-up.
2. Evening, weekend and international calls and broadband in house 2 with second computer back-up.

There is a bewildering array of information and I should be most grateful for your advice.

You might consider a VoIP solution for each location. It may not come with free international calls but it should offer inexpensive rates and unlimited domestic usage for a flat fee. There is also the option of a soft phone. VoIP also enables you to take advantage of advanced features, such as call forwarding and simultaneous ring that can be configured from anywhere on the Internet. Also with VoIP, the service itself is portable, which means that you can take the phone adapter with you, plug it in anywhere that there is an Internet connection and receive your calls that way.

Like you mentioned, there are several options and the best approach will probably be a custom mixture of those solutions.
