If your PC has the ability to Wake On LAN you can use that. You can check your Bios to see if you have the option. Here is the SearchNetworking link that will provide you with more information on it.

Please clarify what you mean by “boot”. Is your system running and you want it to shutdown and restart on a schedule? Or is it powered off and you want it to somehow start itself under some circumstances that are so far unspecified? — Tom
Wake-on-LAN might be what’s needed, but it’s unlikely to be useful. If you’re not on the same network, it might not be possible to send the message. And if it is possible to send the message into the LAN, then there can be security concerns in that anyone can potentially send the Wake-on-LAN message. And if that isn’t a concern, then the system might be better off staying powered up in the first place. — Tom
