 Boost connectivity with Cat5
I know this is nt right but in a picnh for now this is what was done.

went about 270 feet in cat5 cable and terminated to a jack.

Then to a little 10/100 switch

then five 5 lines to more than 100 feet of more cat 5 to another terminated ends.

Well of course the speed on the network is slower

but ss there a way to boost the speed back up?

Answer Wiki:
At least in the past with high quality shielded CAT5 cables I was able to maintain regular 100M speed around 500 ft. I would say from the original switchport that you are connecting 270 ft. of CAT5 cable have the port speed locked at 100M, instead of set to autoneg. ---------------------------------------- Easiest answer is to put a switch at about the 150-200ft mark, as it literally regenerates the signals on the wires. Or maybe move the router closer?
