Boost connectivity with Cat5
I know this is nt right but in a picnh for now this is what was done.
went about 270 feet in cat5 cable and terminated to a jack.
Then to a little 10/100 switch
then five 5 lines to more than 100 feet of more cat 5 to another terminated ends.
Well of course the speed on the network is slower
but ss there a way to boost the speed back up?

At least in the past with high quality shielded CAT5 cables I was able to maintain regular 100M speed around 500 ft. I would say from the original switchport that you are connecting 270 ft. of CAT5 cable have the port speed locked at 100M, instead of set to autoneg.

Easiest answer is to put a switch at about the 150-200ft mark, as it literally regenerates the signals on the wires. Or maybe move the router closer?
