BOBJ OLAPI TOTALS PROBLEM

Business Objects, Data warehousing applications, Microsoft Windows

Hi All,
Am facing a problem on Totalling on Business Objects OLAPI.

Automatic totals? is the ability to add a total to the rows or to the columns of your report.

Additionally when drilling down, OLAPI keeps the parent in the column of information. This results in double counting because automatic totals in OLAPI sums everything in the column (Even subtotals) so you get double counting.

Eg
[+]6200 - GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE 200
[+]8700 - OTHER INCOME & EXP 100
Total 300

Once I drill down

[-]6200 - GENERAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE 200
[+]6300 - SALARIES AND BENEFITS 200
[-]8700 - OTHER INCOME & EXP 100
[+]8715 - Misc Expenses 100
Total 600

How can I solve this problem as the user wants to see the subtotal at the 6200 & 8715 level above ... but then the Total double-counts

So you can see in the OLAPI example above, the first view adds up correctly. When I drill down, the number is doubled, even though I am just showing more detail and the total should really be the same.

We are using the following versions :
1) The OLAPI version is BusinessObjects OLAP Intelligence XI R2 11.5.0.313

2) The Microsoft Analysis Services Server 2000 version is : 8.00.2039

Am sure there are many experts who have found a creative sloution to this.

My question is: How are you breaking this total? Are you trying to total before the information is available? And how are you getting this info?
