Hi, I have a Watchguard X1250e and I would like to block "LogMeIn" from accessing the internal network from the WAN side. Looked on the Watchguard FAQ. Cannot seem to find a place where to enable this setting. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

According to my limited understanding and knowledge, inorder to block “LogMein” from accessing your Local Network via Internet, you have to make sure that you either have an ISA Server on your Local Network or a firewall hardware device.

I am not sure how you have setup your local network but your local network should be protected and safeguarded from any stranger who tries to access your local network from internet.

===================
If you can block by URL’s, block the regex string <b>^logmein\.com</b> for http and https traffic. You can also block <b>secure.logmein.com</b>.

    Sorry, I wasn't clear. I want to prevent certain users from accessing the corporate LAN from internet using LogMeIn (and all other types to remote tools). The Watchguard Firebox X1250e is our firewall. Just not sure where to enable this filter or what ports to block. Does LogMeIn use random ports? Thanks again.

    You can enable IDS/IPS in the Watchguard Firebox. This may block logmein. Also there is a document on Linksys website detailing how to block logmein.

    I have enabled the IPS feature but it still seems to let it through. I cannot find the article on the Linksys site. Could you provide me with the link please. Much appreciated.

    As outlined here the client software on remote access tools such as this work by the client installed on the host machine connecting out and setting up a connection for remote access. May want to look into blocking this traffic outbound first but it's going to be difficult. A web content filtering system may be the best - if not only - reasonable way to do this OR just block the executables from running on your local hosts like I talked about here.

    The smart alec answer would be: "unplug your computer fro the internet." But since I'm sure this has been considered, I have heard that in terms of <a href="http://www.proxynetworks.com">remote access software</a> there are some top notch security solutions out there, such as the one that i linked to. The paid ones are more robust and the code is less common than free versions, so they're harder to get hacked.

    Okay my issue is my father is an administrator of Logmein, because he has a lot of clients that he works with, & Logmein is just one of the tools he uses to reach and help his clients more efficiently. Anyways he has me on his account as well, & he put me on his account with the intentions of being able to help with homework and so forth when he off on business trip around the country, & quit frankly he's just to busy to even have the time to do that. so I would like to know if there is a way to block the administrator from viewing what ever it is you may being doing? For the times I'm up till 2am working on research reports for school and whatnot and he's on the west coast 3 hours behind and see's that I'm still up when I should be in bed, doesn't make him a happy camper. So if anyone knows how to go about blocking this to where the administrator can't view what I'm doing please let me know. Thanks (He could be watching what I'm typing right now ><
