Block user Internet access but not ability to read Outlook Express email
I wish to block Internet access to the single PC user but still grant permissions to Outlook Express to be able to see the emails? If this is possible, would someone explain how? Thank you.

Answer Wiki:
A down and dirty way to accomplish this would be to set an non existent proxy setting in IE in the Tools>internet option>connections>LAN settings. Set the check mark in "Use a proxy for your LAN..." and then enter something like 123.345.567.789 for the proxy address. This will make it impossible for IE to connect to the internet. I should not stop OE from getting E-mail. Note: Savvy users might figure this one out, and could change it if they have enough permission. If they have a browser on a USB stick (like FireFox...) they could still get online. Good Luck! **************************************************************************

Having more details would be nice…
It depends on how the internet connection is configured.

At my company, we have a proxy in which we have created many services such as SMTP proxy, POP proxy, HTTP proxy, and so on, and each service has its own access policy. We have many users that can access the SMTP and POP services but not the HTTP service. The permissions are ip-address based.
