Blade servers for a small business?
Blade servers, Dell PowerEdge, Dell servers, HP BladeSystem, HP Servers, IBM BladeCenter H, Server Selection, Sun Blade Servers, Sun Servers
Anyone have any good advice or servers they have used in a small business environment. Looking at Dell, HP, Sun and maybe IBM. Not looking to break the bank. Any guidance is appreciated.

All are good vendors but if cost is a major factor, I would recommend you lean towards Dell since they are really focus on the small and medium-size businesses unlike the other vendors. All the vendors will give you everything you want out of performance and features.
Dell is the lower cost at first blush, but you can get others to come down to acceptable levels.
I like IBM's blades. They have had a long run, and are backward compatible. Dell at this point is still trying to figure out where they are headed, and comes out with a new model that is incompatible with older ones fairly regularly.

Depending on how froggy you feel you may want to look at some white-box type vendors like super micro. They have a blade system but I can’t testify to its quality. However, I can can pretty much guarantee that it’s going to be cheaper than a solution from one of the big four.
As someone who works with Dell, I would have to agree with Nnf97, that Dell has a great offerings for small business IT solutions. They have a few neat tools to help you asses your needs and a power and space calculator located here:
