Blade server purchasing
As Anne Skamarock warns in her latest book, "A fully populated blade system may require more cooling and power than a fully loaded rack system." Have you recently investigated investing in a new blade system? Were you surprised by the price comparisons with rack systems? Did this influence your final decision?

We have evaluated blades recently.
For the mix of performance loads that we were seeking; it turned out better for us to buy beefy rack servers and run vmware on those, than buy a bunch of blades.
Deploying vmware on blades was also explored, and turned out to be too expensive to get the throughput we were looking for.
