hi friends i have pII motherboard with chipset 1440lx while booting it give American megatrends Amibios (c)1996 American megatrends inc EX98 ver 1.06 (11/10/1998) in down stare 61704800 100000111111 071595 i440lx 6dlxn704h i have purchased 40gb harddisk but it is detecting 33gb i want to upgrade this bios can one help me to how to upgrade this bios ? is the information i have given is enough? or any other information u want pls tell me ? but pls help me to update this bios? where i can i find updates of this thanks in advance

Generally, you need to go to the web site of the board manufacturer. AMI sells BIOSes to many manufacturers, who each may require slight modifications- meaning that no one upgrade will work for all boards. Sometimes I've found it helpful to go over the board with a good light and a magnifying glass to find the manufacturer, or some number that I can Google which will lead me to the manufacturer. Go to the American Megatrends web page, http://www.ami.com/, click on the Bios Update icon, identify your motherboard and download the bios. The instructions on the site appear intuitive. Updating a bios is simply if you carefully follow the directions. Read all the required steps BEFORE attempting the update. Good luck.
