Best way to create a District/Precinct Map where districts change color based on MySQL or Access data
I have a image of a city divided into 500+ subdivisions. I need to vusualize data by changing the color of a subdivision. Data can be in a MySQL Db, Access, whatever. Example: if subdivision 1 has completed a report, color of subdivision 1 = green, if not = red. The data is updated often and the map needs to reflect changes quickly. The concept is pretty simple, but the question is, what tools to use? I've looked at Adobe flash/flex, google maps api, MapServer/ka-Map and although all capable of doing the job, are overly complex for what seems to be a simple application. Ideally the map should run in a web browser. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to accomplish this project?
